Nachdem der Warenhauskonzern Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof den Standort Wandsbek im Juni 2023 geschlossen hatte, waren die Parkdecks verwaist. Das Karstadt Sporthaus wurde im Oktober 2020 aufgegeben, das Thaliahaus im Dezember 2022. Das Gebäude wurde bis Ende 2008 einer umfangreichen Neugestaltung unterzogen und hierbei zu einem der sogenannten „Weltstadthäuser“ aufgewertet. Der Schwerpunkt des Sortiments liegt seitdem auf Bekleidung und Mode.

Die Entscheidung über den neuen Eigentümer für die insolvente Warenhauskette Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof ist offenbar gefallen. Medienberichten zufolge will ein Konsortium aus der US-Investmentgesellschaft NRDC Equity Partners und dem Unternehmer Bernd Beetz die Kette übernehmen.

Schließung Galeria Karstadt in Wandsbek

Der Mietvertrag wurde zum 30. Juni von Galeria gekündigt. Wir hatten uns – mit dem Wissen, dass der Mietvertrag im Rahmen des Insolvenzverfahrens von Galeria möglicherweise im Jahr 2024 auslaufen würde – bereits auf die damit zusammenhängenden Erfordernisse eingestellt.

Das teils leerstehende Klinkergebäude wird vom US-amerikanischen Immobilienkonzern Tishman Speyer übernommen. Tishman Speyer ist ein Gigant der Branche und hat in Hamburg schon das markante Gruner + Jahr-Verlagshaus am Baumwall gekauft.
